= Parish Hall Expansion =

The Grace Church community has grown rapidly and more space for Sunday School and other church activities was needed.

Sunday, August 5th, 2001
, Church officials and parishioners broke ground for the new addition to the parish house.  Rector Dwight L. Brown lead the groundbreaking ceremonies Sunday in the courtyard of the parish house.  He drew special attention to the role of John F. Milleson Jr. and thanked the congregation. John Milleson spearheaded the expansion project for the past two years.

Shovels in hand, Rev. Brown and John Milleson were assisted by Kathy Campbell, Program Director, Jim Thorne, co-chair of the Building Committee; and Jerry Van Voorhis, chair of the recent Capital Campaign, as they donned hard hats and dug.

The Capital Campaign raised in excess of $300,000 last fall.  With other funds committed, the $1.25 million project has now officially given birth.

C.A. Webb & Sons Inc. is the contractor and Ken Livingston of Main Street Architects Inc. is the architect.

A reception followed the ceremonial ground breaking.

It was a celebration "of loving hands and caring hearts," said Locket Van Voorhis, chair of the ground breaking.
