Please join us this Sunday for the monthly ‘Potluck Luncheon’ following the 11 a.m. service.  Bring a generous dish to share with all as we gather together to share a meal and celebrate April birthdays!

 

Condolences to Dwight and Cathy Brown on the loss of his great-aunt, Betty Miller.  Rev. Brown will conduct the funeral in Connecticut this Friday, April 11th.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!

 

Our sympathy to the family of Mae Allison who passed away Monday, April 7th in Winchester, Virginia.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.  There will be a memorial service at Grace Church Sat., April 12th @ 3 p.m. with a reception to follow in the parish hall.

 

The Second Commandment Collection:  Please remember to bring a non-perishable food item with you to church each week and drop it off in the collection boxes.   Our offerings will be picked-up bi-monthly and put to good use locally helping feed those less fortunate than ourselves!

 

Shrine Mont All Parish Retreat…April 18 – April 20th, 2008!  The focus of the weekend is ‘EnJOYing Creation’.  This is sure to be an exciting weekend filled with twists, turns and challenges for everyone and a great opportunity to get better acquainted with your church family.  Everyone is encouraged to come and partake of this annual parish event!  Registration forms need to be returned (with payment) no later than Friday, April 11th.  Grace Church pays the cost for all parish children to attend the retreat and scholarships are available for adults if needed.  

 

Volunteers Needed…If interested in helping Sarah Dunn with the food concessions at the Bryarly estate auction in White Post on Saturday, May 10th please contact the church office.  The sale will last most of the day – volunteers are needed for 2-3 hour shifts (or all day).  All monies raised will go to the youth ministry at Grace Church.

 

Brochures and registration forms for Shrine Mont’s Children/Teen Summer Camps are available in the parish hall or on the diocesan website.  Camps include:  Art Camp. Music & Drama Camp, Explorer’s Camp, Sports Camp, and more.  Full and partial scholarships are available through the Diocese for those requiring financial help.

 

Outreach Committee Meeting…The Outreach Committee will meet immediately following the 11 a.m. service this Sunday.  The meeting will focus on what we can do to help supplement the local food bank.  Please attend this meeting – all are welcome!                       Chris Curran, Chairman

 

Altar Flowers…If you would like to give flowers at Grace Church in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a special occasion, please contact the church office. There are several dates available in the upcoming months. 

 

56th Annual Family Conference (July 6-12, 2008)…Six special days of music, meditation, education and fun at Shrine Mont!  The Family Conference is the summer place to be – whether you are single, married, with or without children.  Our own Rev. Dwight L. Brown will be the on-site rector and spiritual leader for the week.  Activities include: hiking, drama, crafts, cookouts, bonfires, swimming, exploring and Shrine Mont traditions like relaxing, reading, ‘porching’, and sharing the company of others.  Come experience the wonders of Shrine Mont, the chance to renew old friendships and forge new ones, and grow in your life with the Lord.   For more information or an on-line registration form, please contact the diocesan Program Office @ 800-DIOCESE.

Love – All That and More!  The 6th and final installment of this 6-week will meet this Sunday, April 13th from 4-6 p.m. in the parish hall (dinner included). The ‘Healthy Relationship’ class has developed into a committed unit of teenagers working towards a greater understanding of respect for themselves and others (18 teenagers & 6 adults have contributed to the success of our study).

Shrine Mont Retreat (April 18-20th)…Contact Cathy Brown if you would like to participate and your parents are unable to attend.

 

Pentecost & Mother’s Day (May 11th)Robin York’s class will conduct the 11 a.m. service and also provide RED desserts for the potluck luncheon.

 

Trinity Sunday (May 18th)Rives Bacon’s class will conduct the 11 a.m. service and also host coffee hour.

 

CCHS Graduation (June 1st)Ned Burks & Stefan Donner’s class will conduct the 11 a.m. worship service giving tribute to graduates Kyle Seekford and Taylor Keuhm. Kyle will be attending Liberty University in the fall and Taylor will be heading to Virginia Tech.  Coffee hour contributions are most welcome and needed as our church will host a special reception to honor our graduates.

 

All Parish Picnic at the Rectory (June 8th)This event will celebrate the final day of Sunday School before summer vacation.  This fun day will feature excellent cuisine, sporting events & team challenges, special music, a silent auction/clothing exchange, and many more treats.  Please start collecting gently used clothes and special items of interest for the auction.  The money generated from this new project will be used for youth activities.
